What to do

Big 4

1. Write a six-month plan: one strength to keep, one thing to develop, one person to learn from, and a date to review.

2. Move up a level in the Big 4, Practitioner or Leader, in a tool you already use.

3. If you do not have a teaching qualification yet, talk to your manager about the college's route.

Short on time?

Put the review date in your calendar now. The plan can follow.

Quick win for your next lesson

Share one thing that worked with your team: five minutes at a team meeting, or a post in your department's Team.

Reflect

Pause for a few minutes. Short notes or bullet points are enough.

  • STOP:

What has changed in my teaching this year?

  • THINK:

What will I keep, and what will I stop?

  • PLAN:

Who will I learn from next, and when will I review my plan?

Next step

Keep using STOP, THINK, PLAN after lessons. Your STEP notes stay here whenever you want to look back.

Your reflection record

Prompts for your own notes on this stage. Bring them to your next conversation with your Innovator.

  • When I started STEP, I thought…
  • What I have tried this year that worked…
  • What I noticed about how I learn best…
  • What my evidence says I should keep and develop…
  • My six-month plan, who I will learn from, and my review date…
