See It in Practice
Watch a colleague for 15 to 20 minutes with a precise question about your target. Try another department.
What to do
1. Write your question, for example: "How does she get quiet learners to answer?"
2. Watch, and note the teacher's decisions as well as their actions.
3. Ask them to explain two decisions, and what they do when it does not work.
Short on time?
Fifteen minutes and one question is enough.
Quick win for your next lesson
Visit a different department. A technique you see in Construction might be the one that works in Health and Social Care.
Reflect
Pause for a few minutes. Short notes or bullet points are enough.
- STOP:
What did I notice?
- THINK:
Why might it work with my learners, and why might it not?
- PLAN:
What will I try?
Next step
Bring the idea to Stage 4 and build it into a plan.
Your reflection record
Prompts for your own notes on this stage. Bring them to your next conversation with your Innovator.
- My question…
- What I saw…
- What the teacher said about their decisions…
- What would transfer to my learners…
- What I will try…
