See It in Practice

Spend 15 to 20 minutes in a colleague's lesson, watching for your priority and nothing else.

What to do

1. Ask your Innovator who does your priority well. It does not have to be your subject.

2. Watch for one thing: what the teacher does, and what learners do in response.

3. Afterwards, ask them about one decision: "Why did you do that then?"

Short on time?

Fifteen minutes at the start of a colleague's lesson is enough.

Quick win for your next lesson

Borrow one phrase. Write down the exact words the teacher used for your priority, and use them in your next lesson.

Reflect

Pause for a few minutes. Short notes or bullet points are enough.

  • STOP:

What did I see the teacher do?

  • THINK:

Why did it work with those learners?

  • PLAN:

What will I adapt for mine?

Next step

Take the idea into Stage 5 and plan it into a lesson with your Innovator.

Your reflection record

Prompts for your own notes on this stage. Bring them to your next conversation with your Innovator.
